The Concert Room features legendary band Phish, and a stellar performance during their Fall Tour 1997. Phish rolled in to the Spectrum for a 2 night stand, on December 2 and 3, 1997. The shows were recorded and then later released as a 6 CD box set featuring 33 tracks in March 2024 (The Spectrum '97), these shows were the best on the tour, and "Down with Disease" is among the best of the entire 1990's. This could be due to the fact that Trey Anastasio considers the Spectrum home, having grown up in nearby in Princeton NJ and attending numerous concerts that helped shape his love for live music. Phish takes their inspiration from the Dead and many diverse genres, separating them from their peers and to this day have a loyal following. SPEAKER_00: Hey everybody, welcome back to the concert room. I'm your host, Bob Hill. The concert room is a podcast session dedicated to all the great performances and performers who played on the stage at the legendary Philadelphia Spectrum Arena. The Spectrum held numerous events and concerts over its 40 plus years of existence, earning the nickname America Showplace. The Spectrum was a special place for music fans and bands. We got a great show lined up today.

SPEAKER_00: Or in between uh a little bit of the uh interviews and recording and editing the futures of the performance.

SPEAKER_00: Kind of moving into that, playing the uh marina with eventually returned as a performer, of course, with that their shows were just as memorable as any ever played. Uh playable shows in the factory in the nineteen ninety.

SPEAKER_00: Fighting a memorable December second, December 3rd, 1997. Right frequently fighting my training.

SPEAKER_00: Improvisational recording released officially ninety seven live released by fancy two thousand twenty-four.

SPEAKER_00: So here is a similar performance of the disease.

SPEAKER_01: So the jungles in my mind, the climbing up my waterfalls in the chat and music, but I'm always losing.

SPEAKER_00: What a thrill it must have been for Trey to perform a very spectrum stage. He would grow up watching You know, his favorite bands uh play in front of sold-out shows and crowds, and uh we're all really proud, as I mentioned before, that he and his band hold the spectrum in their hearts and memories. We're he as fans always uh always be thankful. And the feeling is uh certainly mutual. So that is awesome. Go out and get that box set.
