The concert room is a podcast session dedicated to all the great performances and performers who are playing on the stage at the legendary Philadelphia Spectrum Arena. The Spectrum held numerous events and concerts over its 40 plus years of existence, earning the nickname America Show Place. This Spectrum was a special place for music fans and bands. And tonight we have a uh great show lined up for you, for your listening pleasure.

0:41 SPEAKER_00: It's one of my favorite bands, Humble Pie. Uh Humble Pie uh was calling it Quits, uh, 1975. Steve Marriott, Clem Clemson, Greg Ridley, and Jerry Shirley uh went out on tour. It was a farewell tour. And they uh labeled it the Goodbye Pie Tour. And um on the bill that night, interestingly enough, was Peter Frampton, who was an original founding member along with Steve Marriott, uh, back in the late 60s of Humble Pie. So here we have 1975, Humble Pie calling a quit, saying goodbye, curtain call, and Peter Frampton, 1975, uh peeking on his way up.

1:29 SPEAKER_00: Great year for him. Uh also on the bill was John Antwistle, uh, the bass player for The Who. I guess he wanted to cut a solo album or had something to say. Uh so he formed a band called Ox, and uh, from all accounts, uh they were actually pretty good that night. So great night of tunes at the Philadelphia Spectrum. John Antwissels, Ox, Peter Frampton came on, and uh and then Humble Pie came out to say uh farewell. But here is the opener, four-day creep, live at the spectrum. Here's Humble Pie, Saturday, March 15th, 1975.

5:31 SPEAKER_00: Incredible. Sure, they were sorely missed after this tour. They did go one uh after the breakup to form different iterations of Humble Pie. Um and by the way, I think that uh that sounded like Lou Nolan introducing uh Humble Pie. Uh longtime Flyers fans from the 70s and 80s who went down to the spectrum to uh to watch hockey games would recognize that voice, uh especially after a goal. Um that sounded really like uh Lou Nolan. I'll have to look into that and see if that actually was him, but uh I recognized that uh that voice right away.
